Welcome to the Pleasanton Lacrosse Club Web Site

Started in 2002 with 2 teams, 1-Pup and 1-Jr. Pup, the Pleasanton Lacrosse Club has grown year after year. In 2011 we sponsored 11 youth boys lacrosse teams with over 200 players, ranging in age levels from U9 to High School JV boys.

Our Mission:   PLC is a nonprofit organization founded to provide our youth the opportunity to play lacrosse and have a positive, character building experience. Through the game of lacrosse players learn lessons that will last a lifetime. We focus our coaching in three areas, Athletic Skills, Lacrosse Skills, and Work Ethic. By these three principals we will explore life lessons, exploit teachable moments, and provide a fun character building lacrosse experience on and off the field to our young athletes. At all times we will adhere to the Positive Coaching Alliance “Double-Goal” coaching principal of striving to win while achieving a more important goal of using sports to teach life lessons.

US Lacrosse Coaching Clinics
by posted 01/03/2012

US Lacrosse, NorCal Chapter of US Lacrosse,
The NCJLA, and host clubs

...have teamed up to provide an excellent venue to hold a combination of on-field and classroom training for our coaches.  These clinics are an important piece in the overall education of new and experienced coaches alike.  All coaches should strive to continue their lacrosse education and these clinics are an outstanding way to do so.   Below are dates for clinics that are currently on the calendar.  These clinics are for both boys and girls team coaches.

The Fair Oaks and Petaluma Lacrosse Clubs will be hosting upcoming clinics in January and February 2012.  We have attempted to regionalize these clinics to minimize travel as best possible.  However, depending on personal schedules some coaches may need to travel to an outlying region to complete the Level 1 and Level 2 training.  Wherever the location the training is worth the travel!
USLacrosse requires that all coaches attending the clinics be a member of USLacrosse.

PCA Free Live Workshops in 2012 and Discount for Online Course

2012 - PCA Free Live Workshops & Discount for Online Course

The NCJLA has announced that they have received a US Lacrosse and Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Sportsmanship Grant. Coaches can attend a live PCA workshop and receive their certification FREE OF CHARGE. Not only that, the grant includes a 50% discount for the online course for those unable to attend a local live workshop.

PCA Part of NCJLA Coach Certification Requirements
Every coach in the NCJLA is required to be an “NCJLA Certified Coach.” PCA certification, at least every three years, via a workshop or online course, is one of the requirements to be an “NCJLA Certified Coach.”

Live Workshops
The PCA live workshops will be held in late January 2012 at four locations throughout Northern California. Live workshops allow coaches, both new and returning, to engage in discussions about proper sportslike behavior with a trained PCA coach. This is a great chance for new coaches and returning coaches to ask questions such as, "How do I positively change a negative behavior?" and, "What should I do if I don't like an official's call?" Participants of the live workshops will be given a PCA handbook, have the opportunity to role play different field scenarios, and take part in the discussion of the importance of being an effective positive coach.

PCA Workshops:
  • Monday Jan 23: Danville, Green Valley Elementary School MPR, 6:30p
  • Wednesday Jan 25: El Dorado Hills, Fire Station MPR, 6:30p
  • Thursday Jan 26: San Carlos, San Carlos Youth Center, 7:00p
  • Thursday Jan 26: Kentfield, Kent Middle School, 6:30p
Click here to register for a PCA workshop listed above.

Online Course
While the NCJLA highly recommends coaches attend an in person clinic coaches may elect to take the online course instead. The online course is also recommended by the NCJLA for coaches who are looking to freshen up on their PCA skills but whose PCA certifications have yet to expire. Fortunately, the NCJLA Sportsmanship Grant allows a 50% off discount for the online workshop.

Please use the following code: SOCstBWk when registering for the online course.

See detailed instructions for using the discount code.

This season, the NCJLA’s PCA workshops will be coordinated by NCJLA Girls Director, Kristine Wollam: , 415-418-8025.
